Introduction

Welcome to LexiMory, a vocabulary learning application designed to help you master new languages through spaced repetition and interactive learning. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). Your privacy is important to us, and we've designed LexiMory to protect it. Please read this privacy policy carefully.

Our Privacy-First Approach

LexiMory is built with privacy at its core:

• No Account Required: You can use LexiMory without creating an account or providing any personal information
• Offline-First: All your data is stored locally on your device, not on external servers
• No Tracking: We do not track your behavior, collect analytics, or use third-party tracking services
• No Ads: We do not display advertisements or share data with advertisers

Information We Do NOT Collect

To be completely transparent, here's what we DO NOT collect:

• Personal identifiable information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Device identifiers for tracking purposes
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Contacts, photos, or other media from your device
• Browsing history or app usage patterns

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

LexiMory stores the following data locally on your device using SQLite database:

Your Learning Content

• Vocabulary Categories: Names and organization of your custom word categories
• Word Entries: Words you've added, their translations, and associated notes
• Example Sentences: Sample sentences from the bundled Tatoeba database
• Custom Images: Any images you've associated with words (stored in local cache)

Learning Progress

• Review History: Records of your practice sessions and answers
• Spaced Repetition Data: Scheduling information for when to review each word (using FSRS algorithm)
• Statistics: Your learning streaks, word counts, and progress metrics

App Preferences

• Language Settings: Your chosen UI language and learning language preferences
• Theme Preferences: Light/dark mode and color scheme choices
• Audio Settings: Text-to-speech preferences and pronunciation settings

Important: All of this data remains on your device and is never transmitted to external servers.

Bundled Resources

LexiMory includes pre-packaged databases that are part of the app installation:

• Dictionary Database: Offline dictionary for word lookups (no internet required)
• Tatoeba Sentences Database: Example sentences for context and learning

These resources are embedded in the app and do not communicate with external servers.

Optional Internet Features

Some features may use internet connectivity but only when you explicitly use them:

Translation Service

When you use the auto-translation feature:

• Service Used: Microsoft Translator API
• Data Sent: ONLY the specific word or phrase you choose to translate
• Purpose: To provide translation suggestions
• Important: No personal information, device identifiers, or other app data is sent

Image Loading (Optional)

If you choose to add images to words from URLs:

• Images are downloaded and cached locally on your device
• Standard HTTP requests are made to fetch the images
• No tracking or analytics are performed

Text-to-Speech

Pronunciation features use your device's built-in text-to-speech:

• Powered by your device's native TTS engine (Android TTS or iOS Speech)
• No data is sent to external servers
• Processing happens entirely on your device

Permissions Required

LexiMory may request the following permissions:

• Storage/File Access: To store the local database and cached images on your device
• Internet Access: Only for optional features like translation and image loading
• Network State: To detect connectivity before attempting optional online features

We request the minimum permissions necessary for the app to function.

Data Security

Your data is protected through:

• Local Storage: All data remains on your device in a secure SQLite database
• No Cloud Backup: We do not automatically backup your data to cloud services
• Device Security: Your data is protected by your device's security features (encryption, lock screen, etc.)
• App Sandbox: The app operates within the security sandbox provided by your operating system

Important: Because data is stored locally, if you uninstall the app or clear app data, your vocabulary lists and progress will be permanently deleted. Please back up your device regularly if you want to preserve your data.

Third-Party Services

LexiMory uses minimal third-party services:

Microsoft Translator API (Optional)

• Purpose: Provide translation suggestions when you use the translation feature
• Data Shared: ONLY the text you choose to translate
• When Used: Only when you explicitly tap the translate button

Flutter Framework

• Purpose: App development framework
• Data Collection: No automatic data collection by Flutter itself

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, rent, trade, or share your data with third parties.

Since your data never leaves your device (except for optional translation requests), there is nothing to share. We may only be required to provide information in the following rare circumstances:

• Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government regulation
• Safety and Security: To protect the rights, property, or safety of LexiMory, our users, or others

Your Rights and Choices

Complete Control

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

• Access Your Data: View all your vocabulary, categories, and statistics within the app
• Modify Your Data: Edit or delete words, categories, and learning records at any time
• Delete Your Data: Clear all app data through your device's app settings, or uninstall the app

Data Portability

Your data remains in a standard SQLite database format on your device. Advanced users can access and export this database using SQLite tools if desired.

Deleting Your Data

To completely remove all LexiMory data:

1. Go to your device Settings
2. Navigate to Apps > LexiMory
3. Select "Clear Data" or "Clear Storage"
4. Or simply uninstall the app

Warning: This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Make sure to back up any important vocabulary lists before clearing data.

Children's Privacy

LexiMory is suitable for users of all ages, including children. Since we do not collect any personal information, there is no risk of inadvertently collecting data from children under 13. Parents can safely allow their children to use LexiMory without privacy concerns.

International Use

LexiMory can be used anywhere in the world. Since all data is stored locally on your device and we do not collect personal information, there are no international data transfer concerns. The app respects the data protection laws of all countries by design.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. We will notify you of any significant changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Displaying an in-app notification for material changes
• Including update notes in the app store listing

Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
